MOBILE BANKING IN BANGLADESH: A POLICY AND REGULATORY REVIEW

Policy and regulatory issues are indispensable for maintaining discipline protecting the interests of all stakeholders in mobile banking ecosystem. Bangladesh Bank has issued policy guidelines (2011) financial services regulation (2018) to protect against abuse these like fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, as well safeguard user funds. This article examined role framework creating a favourable environment Bangladesh. For this purpose, twenty-three KIIs one questionnaire survey were conducted on 400 respondents country's four districts. Many public private documents journal articles also reviewed. A index with ten indicators was developed, overall score 0.85 out 1. Multiple linear regression analysis been used study. Its value, beta coefficient, R-value, expert opinions, asserted that standards have positively influenced creation environment, even though they demand some modification terms account opening minimum age, service charge rate, product diversification, interoperability, supervision activities. Since multiple agencies involved regulation, government can play vital coordination among ensure protection customers steadiness through suitable legal structure.
